Biden first says “a president stands up and divides people all the time” and then adds “10 to 15 percent of the people are not very good people”

The main opponent of Donald Trump in the presidential race, Joe Biden again erupted in conflicting statements about the Americans. Accusing the US president of dividing the people, Biden said that part of the US population is "not very good people."

In a conversation with Don Cheadle, a former vice president said “The words a president says matter, so when a president stands up and divides people all the time, you’re gonna the worst of us to come out.” He continued, “[d]o we really think this is as good as we can be as a nation? I don’t think the vast majority of people think that. There are probably anywhere from 10 to 15 percent of the people out there who are just not very good people, but that’s not who we are. The vast majority of the people are decent. We have to appeal to that and we have to unite people — bring them together. Bring them together.”

This statement follows 4 days after the former mayor of Temecula, James Stewart, expressed a similar opinion, but regarding the colored population.

In a leaked letter, Stewart wrote no "good person of color" had ever been killed by police. It is not known whether Biden was aware of this phrase and whether his judgment on 15 percent of Americans is a call for decisive action by the police regarding "not very good people."

Stewart later apologized and resigned.

"My typos and off-the-cuff response to an email on a serious topic added pain at a time where our community, and our country, is suffering. I may not be the best writer and I sometimes misspeak, but I am not racist. I deeply regret this mistake and I own it, entirely. I am truly sorry,” he said. “I understand that even my sincerest apologies cannot remedy this situation. Because actions speak louder than words, I will step down as your Mayor and City Council Member effective immediately.”
