Reddit and Twitch banned Donald Trump due to hate speech

The newly created U.S. President’s Twitch account is heavily censored. According to the administration of the site, Trump’s speech in Tulsa and racist comments about illegal immigrants during the election campaign in 2016 affected a sensitive hatred policy.

“Hey, it’s 1:00 o’clock in the morning and a very tough, I’ve used the word on occasion, hombre, a very tough hombre is breaking into the window of a young woman whose husband is away as a traveling salesman or whatever he may do,” Trump says in one of the videos which was banned by Twitch.

Later, in an exclusive commentary on Engadget, Twitch told that they are not going to make exceptions for politicians who incite racial hatred.

“Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch. In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream,” the company said. “We do not make exceptions for political or newsworthy content, and will take action on content reported to us that violates our rules.”

In the same period, the Reddit closed the subreddit channel The_Donald also because users violate new content policies aimed at hate speech. According to Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, users of the group for many years violated the rules for using the site, while the Reddit administration says that it tried not to pay attention to it. It is funny that the blocking followed shortly before the upcoming elections.

"It was becoming clear that the company's values and the way discourse was playing out on the platform was one of the main things we wanted to fix in our content policy update," Huffman said.
