China sponsors censorship of Reddit: US government sees this as a threat
Reddit openly stated that it has received multimillion-dollar support from the Chinese government. As a result, more than 2 thousand communities were recently banned, including “The_Donald” a pro-Trump subreddits.
According to official information, 150 million dollars was transferred to Reddit, to clean social networks from content that is objectionable to China. The recent numerous accusations by Donald Trump towards China, obviously, led to such consequences.
The Chinese IT giant Tencent in charge of WeChat, League-of-Legends, and TikTok, has been blocked in the US and India. Now the platform is suffering enormous losses, so in order to reduce the degree of negativity on the part of ordinary users, Reddit decided to block the most influential and active communities.
TikTok was completely banned from being installed on the phones of US soldiers and civil servants.
“We do not allow it on government phones.” … “It is considered a cyber threat,” Lt. Col. Robin Ochoa – Army stated.
In light of the recent skirmish on the China-Indian border, the Indian government also blocked TikTok, resulting in $ 6 billion in losses.
