Police Found Beaten to Death Man Who Had 43 Kids
CHICAGO — July 17, 2018
A Chicago man found beaten to death, over the weekend, in his own apartment in Chicago
The man has been identified as John Hearring, 63. His family called him Nicholas.
According to police, he was discovered unconscious, but still alive, Sunday afternoon in his upstairs apartment on the city’s West Side. He reportedly suffered severe head trauma.
The police officer on the scene called for an ambulance, but he died on the way to the hospital.
Family members said Hearring, a long-time resident of the neighborhood, was survived by 43 kids.
"He was the nicest man you’d ever want to meet," his daughter-in-law, Gwen Bridgeforth, said. "I don’t get it."
No one has been arrested in Hearring’s death. Police are investigating it is a murder.
Earlier over the weekend, a fatal shooting by Chicago police Saturday afternoon fueled a violent clash between officers and a large crowd of demonstrators who threw bottles and rocks at cops, who swung back with batons.
The police killed an unarmed man, Harith Augustus, who allegedly was "exhibiting characteristics of an armed person."
