Donald Trump withdraws troops from Afghanistan: It remains to withdraw another 60,000
The February agreement between the United States and the Taliban helped bring American soldiers back to their homeland. According to reports from National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien, half of the remaining 5,000 soldiers will return to the United States by early next year.
We should have the small remaining number of our BRAVE Men and Women serving in Afghanistan home by Christmas!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 7, 2020
The war in Afghanistan began 19 years ago due to the Taliban harboring members of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, responsible for the 9/11 attack. For such a long time, according to official figures, more than 2 thousand Americans were killed in Afghanistan and many thousands were injured.
Despite the words of the President of the United States about the gradual return of American soldiers to the United States, 60 thousand of American soldiers maintain their positions in the Middle East, Aljazeera reported.
