Twitter suspends accounts posing as Black supporters of Trump
Twitter announced the suspending of number of accounts allegedly owned by Black supporters of President Donald Trump and his re-election campaign.
The platform suspects that the manipulations and spam are involved. The investigation launched by the company into the activity of such accounts and more accounts can be suspended if it is discovered that they violate twitter’s policies.
During the investigation, some of the accounts appeared to use stolen or fake images. Some of the account were falsely owned by military veterans and members of law enforcement.
The investigation was initially reported in the Washington Post and it pointed out that many accounts were using identical, inauthentic language and phrases like: “Yes, I’m black and I’m voting for Trump.”
Twitter rules prohibit using the platform “in a manner intended to artificially amplify or suppress information or engage in behavior that manipulates or disrupts people’s experience on Twitter”, a Twitter spokesman told the Guardian.
