Yosemite National Park Under Threat From California Wildfire
MERCED, CA – July 13, 2018
Yosemite National Park might be under threat from the wildfire that is still raging across California, local media reports.
Firefighters have lost ground on the wildfire just west of Yosemite National Park, which expanded Friday and Saturday by more than 4,000 acres, jumping across Highway 140 and the Merced River.
The fire had been kept south of those barriers since it broke out July 13. As of Saturday morning, firefighters were just to the point of scouting the northern outbreak to figure out where it could be stopped.
State authorities are doing their best to stop the fire, but it’s very early to say if they're able to do so any time soon. Hot and dry weather has worsened the situation as well.
