Tennessee Mayor Waiting For “the Holy Spirit” Approval To Introduce A Mask Mandate
Lincoln County Mayor Bill Newman said he did not believe masks could stop the spread of Covid-19.
“[The virus] is science and it’s true and I do believe masking helps prevent the spread of it,” Newman said, according to AL.com. “But I don’t feel I should mandate people wearing masks at this time.”
According to the census, a little more than 34 thousand people live in County and since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,322 cases have been registered. Newman said that before issuing a decree, he consults with God and in the case of a mask mandate, God did not give a clear answer.
“The Holy Spirit dwells within us,” Newman said. “It’s a heart thing. It’s not a mind thing. But you’re using all your God-given (talents), your physical or mental or spiritual, all those things. When I pray for guidance, I may not know the answer immediately.”
Official statistics report 40 new incidents every day. Small communities on Facebook demand mandatory wearing of face masks everywhere.
Huntsville, Madison County recorded 1,823 new coronavirus cases in just the last 14 days.
