Twitter announced that Trump will be stripped of his status of the US president on Biden's inauguration day
Twitter announced that on the day Joe Biden swears in the U.S. Constitution, Trump will lose his POTUS status on social media.
“Twitter is actively preparing to support the transition of White House institutional Twitter accounts on January 20th, 2021,” Twitter spokesperson Nick Pacilio said in an email. “As we did for the presidential transition in 2017, this process is being done in close consultation with the National Archives and Records Administration.”
Theories are also widely circulated on various social media that Donald Trump's account may be blocked altogether.
To date, this information has not been confirmed. In addition to changes to the presidential account, similar status changes will affect other White House employees and the new president's administration, including the @FLOTUS and @PressSec accounts, Nick Pacilio, a Twitter spokesperson told CNN Business.
