Biden-Harris campaign website was hacked and defaced by a Turkish hacker
This week it was reported that a Turkish hacker hacked the Biden-Harris campaign website Vote Joe.
Initially the cyberattack that reportedly lasted for over 23 hours was believed to be carried out by a group of hackers. This week, the 2020 U.S. President Election, the vote.joebiden.com site started showing messages in Turkish, put forth by the attacker.
The target of the defacement was to warn "US-backed so-called political parties like chp hdp good party" to stop trying to influence politics in Turkey.
The hacker called RootAyyildiz left the note on the site claiming that he is a lone hacker although there were other usernames like MarbeyliWerom," "b4rbarøssa", "oneshot," and "Turkish And Muslim Defacer" were mentioned.
Although the Vote Joe site has now been taken offline, BleepingComputer observed Google continues to cache a defaced copy at the time of writing.
"RootAyyildiz is not a Group or an Organization, but a Vatan Lover who Fights alone," reads the English translation of the message.
Vatan and Watan are words for "motherland" or "homeland" in Arabic, Turkish, Urdu, and similar languages.
