New York Police officer was attacked by group of people while jogging through Queens
An off-duty New York police officer was attacked while jogging through Queens during his lunch break.
New York Police Department said the 15-year-old NYPD veteran was attacked by a group of people, about half a dozen, when he was jogging near Long Island City’s Pulaski Bridge around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The officer-victim grabbed one of the assailant amid the punches and kicks. But then a witness called 911 and everyone fled.
The cop was taken into a nearby hospital with minor injuries to his head, throat and knee.
Police said nobody has been arrested in the connection with the attack.
“If it’s not safe for cops to jog through the neighborhood, what chance do regular NYers have?” the union tweeted Saturday.
