Covid-Positive Massachusetts Man Who Spat At Hikers Arrested
The villain from the viral video, in which a man spits on people without masks and intimidates, claiming to have Covid-19, is detained by the police at his home in Westford on Tuesday.
The man was identified as 71-year-old Hale Powell. According to police reports, he was charged with assault and battery and false threat of a biological agent, Ashburnham Police said in a statement.
During the trial, Powell denied guilt.
There is no reliable result on Covid-19. However, Judge Mark Goldstein ordered Powell to be tested for COVID-19 and to remain quarantined for 14 days and bring the negative Covid test next time.
To date, Powell was released on his own recognizance. He is forbidden to approach the victims and provide the test results to the two injured women.
