Wilson Prairie Fire Storming Across Oregon

CANYON CITY, OR – July 26, 2018

Several highways have been closed in Oregon, due to the ongoing wildfire, local media reports.

The fire was pushed along by afternoon winds and warm temperatures. Three helicopters were used to drop water on hotspots while tankers were used to lay retardant lines in front of the fire to slow the spread so ground resources could engage and build a fireline.

The fire continued to spread to the south. Firelines along the north portion of the fire continue to hold. Firefighters are working to stop the fire's progress in the south using firefighters, bulldozers, and fire engines supported by helicopters and tankers.

Wildfires have been a huge problem this summer all along the Pacific Northwest, especially in the states of California, Oregon and Idaho.
