Joe Biden and His Wife Have Been Publicly Vaccinated With No Side Effects
President-elect Joe Biden successfully underwent Covid-19 vaccination. Together with him, the first lady, Jill Biden, also received an injection of the Pfizer vaccine without deteriorating health.
"We owe these folks an awful lot," Biden said. "The scientists and the people who put this together, the frontline workers, the people who were the ones who actually did the clinical work, it's just amazing."
Biden's vaccination took place at Christiana Care hospital in Newark, Delaware.
Late last week, Vice President Mike Pence, his wife and Surgeon General Jerome Adams were successfully vaccinated.
The US government has announced plans to vaccinate more than 20 million health workers by the end of the year. The next in priority is the elderly.
"We also want to be realistic about the timeline," Murthy said. "I think that if everything goes well, we may see a circumstance where by late spring, people who are in lower-risk categories can get this vaccine. But that would really require everything to go exactly on schedule. I think it's more realistic to assume that it may be closer to midsummer or early fall when this vaccine makes its way to the general population."
According to official sources, the mass vaccinations will continue until next winter. According to Biden's nominee for surgeon general Dr. Vivek Murthy, Vaccine supply interruptions may occur over the next 9 months.
