Columbus Police Release Andre Hill Murder Video: Black Lives Matter Demands Transparent Investigation
A wave of “Black Lives Matter” protests swept across Columbus after a white police officer shot and killed an unarmed Andre Hill. Recently, the police department released a video of the officer's bodycam showing the circumstances under which the officer opened fire.
Video from the scene shows Officer Adam Coy arriving to the call. Hill walks out of his garage, phone in hand and unarmed, however, Coy opens fire.
On Thursday, Columbus police chief Thomas Quinlan said Adam Coy would be fired.
“We have an officer who violated his oath to comply with the rules and policies of the Columbus Division of Police,” Quinlan said in a statement. “This violation cost an innocent man his life.”
Immediately after the details of Hill's murder became known, the Black Lives Matter movement once again organized a protest calling for an end to racial profiling and to stop killing Blacks.
