Online-Dating Is Becoming Very Dangerous... Especially in Nebraska
LINCOLN – July 26, 2018
There has been a wave of robberies and assaults resulting from fake dates organized online in Nebraska, local media reports.
For example, yesterday at about 2 a.m., a 19-year-old drove to Antelope Park at 31st and A streets in Lincoln to meet a woman he met on Facebook, but, when he arrived, a man approached, pulled him out of his car and assaulted him while a woman entered his Pontiac Grand Am, Sands said.
After the assault the pair drove off.
Another man said he went to 45th Street and Huntington Avenue to meet a woman he was talking to online when he was robbed at gunpoint and pistol-whipped by two men.
Nebraska police are now investigating both cases.
