Full Video Shows Native American Marine Triggers Park Ranger to Use Force
The conflict between a park ranger and a Native American at New Mexico's Petroglyph National Monument has found context. The National Park Service has released a full video of the incident, filmed with a ranger's body camera.
Previously, the man claimed to have been the victim of police violence, although looking at the footage of the entire incident reveals that he is not “warm and fuzzy” either.
From the first seconds, the video shows that the ranger is on duty in the area allotted to him, follows the rules and is polite to people who have violated the boundaries, or may have gotten lost.
When asked to provide ID or at least introduce themselves, the couple behaves rudely and tries to leave.
For 8 minutes, the ranger tried to find out the identity of the man and warned that he would be forced to use force if the Marine refused to cooperate.
