7 kids died in frontal crash in Fresno County
Terrible car crash at Highway 33 led to 9 deaths, including 7 minors and 2 adults. The incident occurred at Friday night between a Dodge and a Ford pickup.
According to police, 28-year-old Dodge driver Daniel Luna of Avenal was responsible for the crash. Investigation of the crash site showed that Dodge drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a pickup truck in which the children were.
"When the fire was extinguished, tragically, it was discovered there were eight occupants, seven of which appeared to be juveniles inside the Ford, all of which sustained fatal injuries," Cpt. Clays said, according to ABC7.
To date, investigators have found that two of the pickup's passengers were not buckled up, as the vehicle has only 6 seat belts. A toxicological examination is carried out to identify traces of alcohol or drugs that could lead to a car accident.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed that nine people were killed in a violent head-on collision in Fresno County, CA. I normally don't comment on automobile accidents, but seven of the nine dead were children. That's just heartbreaking. https://t.co/7yRKkGpAvY— Donald R. Koelper (@Donald_from_HI) January 3, 2021
