Family of Grizzly Bears Killed in Montana

BILLINGS, MT – July 31, 2018

A family of grizzly bears, including the mother and two cubs have been killed in an accident involving a car in the state of Montana, local media reports.

The bears were trying to cross a highway in northwestern Montana's Flathead Indian Reservation when  the tragic incident happened.

The deaths bring to four the number of grizzlies killed this year along a 13-mile stretch of Highway 93 near Ronan.

Tribal wildlife officials say bears increasingly are dispersing west across Montana's Mission Valley. They warn motorists to watch for the animals crossing highways. Vehicle collisions are a frequent killer of grizzlies, which are protected as a threatened species in the area.
