A body found stuffed in a suitcase is believed to be a North Carolina pregnant woman who went missing. Police await autopsy report to confirm foul play.
The suitcase with the body was discovered by a passerby on Monday along Neuse River Trail in Raleigh, North Carolina.
24-year-old Brittany Samone Smith missing pregnant woman was reported missing five days ago, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said. She was last seen about 10 miles away in Wendell
Police didn’t identify the name of the victim but suggested that the corpse could belong to Smith.
Authorities don’t believe that it was an accident and the case is being treated as a homicide. A cause of death is unknown.
“We’re getting ready to confirm [the woman’s identity],” Baker told reporters at the scene on Monday.
“I can’t sit here and tell you that’s what’s in there right now. We have not gotten to that point. We have information to believe it.”
