Bill Gates says Facebook and other social media must allow Donald Trump to return
Bill Gates came to the defense of former president Donald trump and said that he must be allowed to get back on Facebook and other social media.
65-year-old billionaire shared his opinion over Trump’s permanent ban on Twitter and other platforms during an interview to CNBC broadcast on Thursday. The Microsoft mogul suggested that Facebook should mark Trump’s allegedly false posts about the election frauds when the 45th president returns to the platform.
“I think at some point he probably will be allowed back on and probably should be allowed back on,” Gates said. “It’s weird when you’re saying that the election was stolen without any facts there and how corrosive that is.”
“His stuff may be labeled as false in a lot of cases,” he added. “In a way, people’s interest in what he says may go down quite a bit. That’ll be interesting to watch.”
Gates also said that now when Donald Trump is no longer in the White House, the people can simply lose interest in his provocative posts.
“You know in a way ... people’s interest in what he says may go down quite a bit,” Gates suggested. “That’ll be interesting to watch.”
