Government hides 6-fold increase in fuel taxes behind Paris Agreement
The sweet pill in which the unprecedented increase in fuel prices is being wrapped is the Paris Agreement, which the US officially joined yesterday.
The US Department of State said in a statement about a global catastrophe and that the United States, along with other countries, will fight against global warming.
“Its purpose is both simple and expansive: to help us all avoid catastrophic planetary warming and to build resilience around the world to the impacts from climate change we already see,” the statement says.
But the document itself does not provide any data, only beautifully describes the destruction of the oil and gas industry and hides the colossal increase in the price of gasoline and other types of fossil fuels.
A Canadian study on this issue shows how this agreement works. There is only one lever in this system, and this is an increase in taxes on emissions, and since industry in this bundle takes only a quarter of the total impact on the environment, the main blow will be on the population.
It is worth recalling that Canada has been involved in this initiative from the very beginning, but missed every target. At least they to pretend like they are doing something.
In relation to the United States, this clearly demonstrates the behavior of greenhouse gases during a pandemic and total lockdowns. Because Americans took to the streets significantly less, and therefore used 14.4 percent fewer cars, the total greenhouse gas emissions dropped to 9.2 percent, a record low in 30 years.
Thus, the obsolete oil industry will greedily squeeze money out of the population for refueling cars, only in order not to lose profits at the decline of the entire industry. An indicative plan is scheduled for the next 10 years.
