North Dakota has got rid of face masks calling them “diabolical silliness”
North Dakota lawmakers have passed a bill exempting people from wearing face masks. The lower chamber voted 50-44 on Monday.
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) ordered all state residents to wear medical masks in public just three months ago. Health officials analyzed the spread of Covid-19 and concluded that mask mandates were among the factors that positively influenced the reduction in the number of cases.
The sponsor on the bill, Rep. Jeff Hoverson (R) called mask mandates “diabolical silliness,” characterizing them as a conspiracy run by “unelected, wealthy bureaucrats who are robbing our freedoms and perpetuating lies,” the Herald reported."
Despite the success in passing the bill, it must also be approved in the State Senate. Given the influence of WHO on such decisions, experts agree that this bill may be revised, depending on the development of the pandemic.
According to official information, of the 94,000 detected cases of Covid-19, only 1,439 people have died due to the virus.
