Man Who Pepper Sprayed Dozens Officers in Capitol riot Identified and Charged
The Justice Department has identified yet another violent rioter in the January 6 siege of the Capitol.
Leading evidence against 49-year-old Daniel Caldwell was footage of the suspect pepper spraying on dozens of officers holding the perimeter around the Capitol.
It is reported that the first video of the riots was published on Parler, from where it was later taken as evidence against hundreds of rioters.
The accused himself is justified by the fact that the police were the first to use pepper spray against the protesters, and he only fought back.
Caldwell is facing charges of assaulting federal officers, obstructing law enforcement, knowingly entering a restricted building, and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, CNN reports.
According to authorities, one of the probable causes of death of Capitol Officer Brian Sicknick was the effects of pepper spray.
