California Plastic Surgeon Appears at Zoom Court Hearing During Surgery
A plastic surgeon from Sacramento was supposed to act as a defendant in the proceedings for his traffic violations, but confused the judge by the fact that he “appeared” in court, simultaneously performing an surgery.
The Medical Board of California opened an investigation into the details of the incident to determine if it was contempt of court by Dr. Scott Green, or simply, it was impossible to reschedule the medical procedure.
"It kind of looks like you’re in an operating room right now?" asked a courtroom clerk.
"I am, sir," Green replied. "Yes, I’m in an operating room right now. Yes, I’m available for trial. Go right ahead."
The surgeon tried to justify himself by the fact that in addition to him, another doctor is participating in the surgery, so he can completely devote to hearing. However, the court put the health and safety of the patient ahead of the trial.
