Bronx mother arrested for abandoning her 4-year-old daughter alone on street
A Bronx mother was arrested for allegedly abandoning her 4-year-old daughter over the weekend after the girl was found wandering alone on street.
New York Police Department arrested 32-year-old Sadeekah Abdul Salaam for leaving her daughter alone near Prospect Ave. and East 156th St. in the South Bronx. According to the news reports, the woman abandoned her daughter at around midnight to find some place to stay. She reportedly went to a homeless shelter.
4-year-old Sidaya was captured on surveillance video wearing a sweater with no jacket in 40-degree Fahrenheit weather, and trailing far behind her mother. The footage was made about four blocks away from the place where she was found. The video shows Salaam stops for a moment to look back at the girl who almost caught up with her and then walks away.

Police arrested Salaam on Monday after identifying her. The woman was charged with abandonment of a child, acting in a manner injurious to a child and reckless endangerment.
Well, at least the woman now has found a place to sleep.
Sidaya was taken to Lincoln medical Center for evaluation. The doctors didn’t find any injures on the girl and her condition was normal.
