Woman curses on Asian salon workers and Asian plainclothes cop who arrests her in Manhattan
Anti-Asian hate in New York non-stop.
One more hate-crime based incident took place in Manhattan on Tuesday. A woman accusing the Chinese people of bringing the COVID pandemic to the U.S. unleashed her racism on Asian employees of a local salon before hitting her rage against an Asian plainclothes police officer, who eventually arrested her.
50-year-old Sharon Williams entered the Nail salon inside the Good Choice in a lower Manhattan, the area near Chinatown about 5 p.m. She soon started spout the racial slurs and insults on workers, police said.
“You brought coronavirus to this country!” she allegedly screamed.
Williams then cursed on another Asian pedestrian on a block before an Asian plainclothes officer appears and starts questioning her. But the cop became her another victim as she called him a “monkey.”
“You’re a Chinese mother***er who brought COVID to this country!” she yelled while the cop was taking her into custody, police said.
She was charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime and criminal trespass.
“The next person you target . . . may be a plainclothes New York City police officer, so think twice,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea warned at the time. “We will never tolerate hate or violence of any kind in our great city.”
