VIDEO: Handcuffed Man Died In Front of 5 Rhode Island Cops
Several police patrols responded to a call about a riotous man in Providence. Attempts to calm the man were unsuccessful, so he was handcuffed.
The deceased man was identified as 34-year-old Joseph Ventre. In the aftermath of the incident, the Providence Police Department released a 16-minute bodycam video showing officers spotting a man rolling, presumably writhing in pain, on the grass behind a fence.
They approached him, but Ventre did not calm down and behaved weird. Together they handcuffed him.
The man resisted and shouted. At the 11th minute of the video, the officers still manage to put on the handcuffs, but at the same moment Ventre loses consciousness. He is put on a gurney and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
About an hour later, the man was pronounced dead. The cause of death is currently unknown.
