The residents of Flint, Michigan, filed a civil rights lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court against the city and government officials accusing them of knowingly poisoning water with lead.
In 2014, due to the finance crisis, the city switched its water source from Lake Huron to the Flint River as a price-cutting measure, which eventually lead to that lead leached from corrosive river.
